Core Process Psychotherapy

Natalie Galvin BSc(hons)M.A
Core Process Psychotherapy (C.P.P) is a unique style of psychotherapy that is held in a Buddhist framework. It is a psycho spiritual psychotherapy that integrates Buddhist psychotherapy practice with other main stream psycho-therapeutic approaches. This gives C.P.P a unique advantage from other approaches as it offers a multi disciplined dimension.
The term Core Process or C.P.P reflects the intention to deepen into the core of being, the source of our inherent health and well-being.
This return to the source is manifested through the practice of awareness, compassion and loving kindness.
These tools come from a Buddhist framework that supports the therapist whilst enabling the client to explore their process at their own pace in a safe and gentle environment. The client does not need to be Buddhist to benefit from C.P.P or have any strong spiritual belief, all that is required is the intention to inquire and engage in their own unfolding process.
The difference between psychotherapy and counseling:
Psychotherapy and Counseling work in a similar way, however counseling is generally offered on a short term basis for specific issues. Psychotherapy works at a deeper level of inquiry over a longer period of time. This allows the individual to gain clarity and understanding of their process at their own pace.
Psychotherapy may be particularly helpful in the following areas:
· Relationship difficulties
· Life issues past/present
· Shock/trauma
· Anxiety and depression
· Grief/loss
· Self esteem and building confidence
· Spiritual or personal development
A little about me:
In December 2000 I Graduated from the Open University with a degree in Psychology and went on to study with the Karuna Institute in Devon, completing an MA in Core Process Psychotherapy in 2009.
I have my own practice which has been running for seven years.
I am fully insured and UKCP registered and bound by their Code of Ethics as well as that of the Karuna Institute.
I have worked in the field of mental health, youth and community for many years, this gives me a broad range of skills and experience to draw upon in my work.
How I like to work:
The initial session is free so we can both decide if we can work together. During this session a brief history will be taken so we have a base to work from. If we are both happy to continue commitment is required for regular sessions. After six sessions we will review your therapeutic journey so far.
I charge £35 a session although concessions are considered if on means tested benefits. I am also part of a pilot scheme offering low cost psychotherapy to those in genuine hardship. If you feel you are in this category please get in touch.
Late cancellations must be paid in full.
